In every project I’ve had the privilege to lead, the most powerful catalyst for change has been a diverse collective—of minds, talents, and perspectives. At Zausmer, we don’t just talk about diversity, equity, and inclusion. We embed these principles into the fabric of our organization. We make it our business to provide not just a seat, but a voice at the table for everyone. From our high-stakes casework to our community engagements, we are driven by the conviction that our most meaningful work is born from a culture of inclusivity. This isn’t a trend for us–it’s a defining trait of who we are, how we operate, and how we engage with the world.

Zero Tolerance for Discrimination
Discrimination is unequivocally rejected at Zausmer. We are committed to advancing equal justice and opportunity and recognize these principles as the cornerstones of a better world. Aligned with our strategic objectives, we prioritize the amplification of diversity and take proactive steps to offer leadership roles to underrepresented groups, including minorities and women.
Valuing Individual Talents and Perspectives
We acknowledge the significance of the diverse talents and viewpoints each individual contributes to our firm. A multifaceted and inclusive team directly elevates the quality of our services and enriches the dynamics of our work environment. Learning from each other’s unique perspectives and skills accelerates both individual and collective growth. The robust composition of our workforce is fundamental to maintaining the high standard of services we provide.
Diversity Initiatives and Work Environment
Our initiatives are designed to perpetually evolve a work environment rooted in gender and diversity equity. This involves:
- Encouraging respectful communication and cooperation among all employees
- Fostering teamwork and inclusive participation, allowing representation of diverse groups and perspectives
- Prioritizing work-life balance
- Engaging both employer and employee in contributions to our communities for enhanced understanding and respect for diversity
As part of our long-term commitment to nurturing an inclusive work environment, we regularly collaborate with experts for sensitivity training sessions. Most recently, Dr. Lee Meadows led a transformative two-day seminar, imparting crucial insights that are already reshaping our workplace conversations and decision-making protocols. These sessions are an integral component of our developmental agenda, and we anticipate their continued positive influence on our culture.
Leadership in Gender and Minority Representation
Our dedication to fostering a culture of inclusion is evident in our diverse workforce. Notably, 40% of Zausmer shareholders and 60% of our Management Committee are female. This commitment is further reinforced by our annual Women’s Leadership Summit, which serves as a platform for open dialogue on navigating the complexities of the legal field. Our Women’s Leadership Initiative focuses on advancing women throughout their legal careers, increasing the number of women in leadership roles, enhancing the visibility of women attorneys, and supporting both their personal and professional development.
Equal Opportunity and Inclusivity
Zausmer functions as an equal-opportunity employer, impartial in every employment decision, irrespective of race, color, sex, gender, religion, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, height, weight, or familial status.
Professional Development
Our internal programs maintain our enduring allegiance to diversity, equity, and inclusion by:
- Facilitating the rise of women and minorities in their careers and into leadership roles within the community
- Elevating the visibility of minority and women attorneys
- Assisting in the personal and professional development of such attorneys
Community Engagement
Zausmer actively champions social causes, benefitting both local and broader communities. Our engagement spans from contributing to the Autism Alliance of Michigan through annual concerts to revitalizing bikes for children with Free Bikes 4 Kidz Detroit. Our employees show their commitment to the community by distributing essential items to families in need and by sponsoring educational gifts for underprivileged children. On a systemic level, we foster diversity in the legal field through the Damon J. Keith Scholarship at Wayne State University Law School. For detailed insights into each initiative, refer to our blog.
At Zausmer, our actions underline our commitments, inviting you to partake in a legal environment committed to setting industry standards in diversity and inclusion.
