A talented and accomplished attorney, Amy Applin relishes the opportunity to delve into thorny, intricate, and perplexing legal issues.

In the appellate arena, she is known for her uncanny ability to parse out key considerations and analyze the situation from various angles. She crafts persuasive written and oral arguments and delivers results. And she knows how to communicate important points that resonate with the court and her opponents.

Amy brings these same skills to other aspects of her practice, including commercial litigation, insurance law and coverage, business and commercial transactions, and administrative and regulatory work. Additionally, she has developed a name for herself in the niche area of statutory receiverships, including insurance company delinquencies and other types of distressed businesses, such as cemeteries and mobile home parks, which have become subject to governmental supervision. In these matters, she takes on a general counsel role to navigate the precarious legal and business challenges that surface in such situations. Amy has also been recognized for her involvement in municipal and regional economic development through her involvement with Partnership for a New Highland Park and the Detroit/Wayne County Roundtable on Sustainable Development.

Amy received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Kalamazoo College, and earned her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Michigan, where she was the Symposium Editor for the Journal of Law Reform.
