Early on, David knew he wanted to be a catalyst for change. He always enjoyed public speaking, critical thinking, and problem-solving, so litigation was a perfect fit. Building good relationships with his clients and opposing counsel is an important element to his practice.
After earning his Bachelor of Arts in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy from the James Madison College at Michigan State University, David earned his law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy Law School. He gained practical experience outside of the classroom while interning for the University of Michigan Detroit Center for Advocacy and the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, where he performed legal research and assisted in witness identification, conducted preliminary examinations, and drafted various pleadings.
Before joining Zausmer, David worked at several firms handling a variety of matters, such as motor vehicle accidents, assault and battery, civil rights, premises liability, and general negligence, gaining experience in all manner of discovery, motion practice, mediation, negotiation, and courtroom litigation. His superior client engagement skills and regular appearances in court allow him to effectively articulate and argue complex areas of the law to not only to clients and opposing counsel but to judge and jury.
In 2013, David and his wife set down roots in Detroit. In their free time, they enjoy exploring the city’s culture, cuisine, and nightlife. As an avid supporter of local businesses, David can often be spotted strolling through Eastern Market or appreciating the community and scenery of the Dequindre Cut and Belle Isle.
