Nick set his sights on law school during college, but took a year to clerk for an active litigation firm after earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in order to get a full glimpse of what to expect. While attending Michigan State University School of Law, he supplemented his classroom learning with internships at the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, and the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office, giving him additional exposure to courtroom litigation and administrative procedures.
After receiving his law degree with honors, Nick joined a busy insurance defense firm, where he was immediately given a demanding docket. There, he oversaw matters from the pleadings stage through discovery to mediation and settlement, and sat second-chair in trials that ended in no-cause verdicts as a result of his careful handling and preparation. Nick joined Zausmer in November 2014 and maintains a full docket of insurance defense cases for the Firm’s clients.
In college, Nick was president of the University of Michigan Bass Fishing Team, and when he’s not in the office, he continues to pursue his love of fishing, trail running, and the great outdoors.
