Sydney Jackson represents government agencies and utilities in eminent domain matters that secure the property rights required to expand Michigan’s infrastructure.
Sydney focuses her practice on eminent domain matters involving the acquisition of private property for public use. She works on cases tied to transportation projects, utility expansion, and infrastructure development.
Before joining Zausmer, Sydney handled foreclosure litigation, landlord-tenant disputes, and business and real estate transactions. She represented individuals, financial institutions and commercial clients in matters involving loan recovery, contract disputes, entity formation, and property transactions. That work laid the foundation for her understanding of property law and the financial issues associated with real estate disputes.
Sydney builds each case through careful preparation and collaboration. She works with colleagues to develop strategy and ensures that each matter rests on clear documentation and analysis. Clients appreciate her steady communication and focus on the outcome they seek.
Sydney earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where she served as a Senior Editor of the Detroit Mercy Law Review and President of the Black Law Students Association. During law school, she also studied intellectual property law, and served as a judicial intern for Judge Gershwin A. Drain of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Sydney remains active with the Association of Black Law Alumni at Detroit Mercy and mentors students involved in the law school’s Black Law Students Association. She is an avid fan of Detroit sports and continues her decade-long study of Spanish.
