Matthew McNaughton has achieved tremendous results for his clients, from Fortune 500 companies and municipalities to small business owners and individuals.

He focuses his practice on commercial and construction litigation in both state and federal courts.

The nature of Matt’s work has forced him to become a closet scientist and engineer.  For example, in a 2010 case centering on a failed municipal overflow project, his quest to master the intricacies of structural and geotechnical engineering with respect to the project helped him obtain the largest settlement of the year on behalf of the City of Dearborn.  In another suit involving an environmental disaster, he became a self-taught expert in the use of ultrasonic waves to identify structural defects in oil pipelines.

Matt’s thorough preparation and ability to find creative strategies and solutions have resulted in substantial victories for his clients.  In an attorney lien action against General Motors, he uncovered an otherwise overlooked provision in the plaintiff’s retention agreements, a discovery that eliminated the automaker’s exposure.

After earning an undergraduate degree in political science with class honors from the University of Michigan, Matt went on to obtain his law degree with honors from The George Washington University, where he was an active member of The George Washington Law Review.
