For more than 40 years, Randolph Bodwin has defended insurers and their insureds, building lasting client relationships through sound judgment, candor, and accessibility.
Randolph Bodwin has practiced insurance defense since 1983, representing insurers and their insureds across the full spectrum of civil disputes. His experience spans auto negligence, property damage, construction litigation, premises liability, wrongful death, contract disputes, PIP claims, and other insurance coverage and liability matters.
Four decades in practice have given Randolph a long view of litigation and the judgment to recognize what matters in a case. He has handled matters at all levels of Michigan’s court system and has practiced in Illinois. Depositions are a particular strength. By asking questions that get to the heart of the dispute, Randolph develops the record, uncovers key facts, and sharpens his assessment of the case.
His relationships with insurance clients often span years and, in some cases, decades. His approach to client service is personal: he gets to know the claims professionals he works with and stays accessible when they need his counsel. Randolph keeps clients informed as matters develop, talks through concerns, and works to ensure there are no surprises.
Before joining Zausmer as Of Counsel, Randolph spent much of his career running his own practice. That experience required him to manage litigation from both the attorney and business owner perspectives, reinforcing his focus on accountability, client service, and the consequences legal decisions have beyond the case itself.
Randolph earned his Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School after receiving both his bachelor’s degree in political science and Master of Social Work from Michigan State University. He is admitted to practice in Michigan and Illinois.
An East Lansing native, Randolph is married with two daughters and three granddaughters. A longtime runner, he has completed three Chicago Marathons.
