Zausmer is pleased to be a sponsor for the 36th Annual ITC Golf Classic benefitting the March of Dimes. The outing will be held on August 23rd at Indianwood Golf and Country Club.
Since its start in 1981, the Classic has generated nearly $5 million to help save infants from premature births that can result in health problems and disabilities for the rest of their lives. The societal and economic impact – both nationally and locally – is staggering:
- Prematurity is the top health risk for newborns in the country.
- Employers bear an average of $54,149 in direct health care costs for a premature baby during the first year of their life, compared to $4,389 for a healthy baby born at full term.
- The premature birth rate in Michigan is 12.2%, higher than the national average of 12%.
- In Metro Detroit, pre-term birth rates are 14.7%, 11%, and 11.9% of live births in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties, respectively.
The ITC Golf Classic, presented by WJR and Frank Beckmann, brings together community leaders, sports figures, and generous benefactors to raise awareness and necessary funds to advance March of Dimes’s important mission.
