Dan handles serious cases that often hinge on complex medical, engineering, and scientific subjects, and frequently involve excess exposure. His ability to interpret intricate issues, develop creative strategies, and persuasively present the facts and law in ways that judges and juries understand accounts for the impressive results he consistently delivers for his clients. Dan’s reputation for tenacious advocacy and strong work ethic has earned him repeat honors as a Super Lawyers Rising Star every year since 2015.
Prior to joining Zausmer, Dan practiced law in New York City, where he defended hospitals, doctors, and business owners in medical malpractice, toxic tort, and product liability matters in state and federal court. Among his many successes, following a two-week trial, Dan secured the dismissal of a high six-figure jury award for medical malpractice by demonstrating that the plaintiff’s expert failed to establish that the defendant surgeon deviated from the standard of care during a surgery.
Dan earned his undergraduate degree from Colgate University and his law degree from Brooklyn Law School, where he served as Articles Editor of the Brooklyn Law Review. While in law school, he interned with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and with Judge Kiyo A. Matsumoto of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Dan has been published in the New York State Bar Association Journal and has presented to the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section on product testing and causation issues in toxic and mass tort claims. Outside of the office, Dan is a seasoned world traveler, wine enthusiast, and avid golfer.
