A Kent County jury found no negligence by a defendant driver, ending a serious-injury auto case against two defendants.
Shareholder Stephanie Strycharz tried the case in Kent County Circuit Court before Judge J. Joseph Rossi, with Senior Attorney Concetta Louzon as second chair.
The case arose from a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 131 in Grand Rapids on August 23, 2024. The plaintiff sued the driver and her mother, who owned the vehicle. The plaintiff claimed serious injuries, including rib, wrist, and finger fractures and respiratory failure due to a soft tissue lung injury.
The defense presented evidence that the defendant driver stopped for a sudden traffic backup and the plaintiff failed to stop behind her. The jury’s first question was whether the defendant driver was negligent. It answered no, ending the claims against both defendants. The verdict highlights the firm’s ability to successfully defend serious-injury auto cases.
