A Wayne County jury returned a defense verdict on injury claims arising from two motor vehicle accidents.
Executive Shareholder James Wright and Shareholder Danielle DePriest, with assistance from Paralegal Amanda Markho, secured a no-cause jury verdict on two first-party personal injury protection (PIP) and uninsured motorist claims. The case was tried before Judge Cusick in Wayne County Circuit Court.
The plaintiff’s claims arose from motor vehicle accidents on November 20, 2023, and December 13, 2024. She claimed injuries to her back, neck, and left shoulder from the first accident and to her right hand, both shoulders, and neck from the second.
The evidence included the plaintiff’s extensive medical history, which revealed prior motor vehicle accidents, insurance claims, and treatment for the same injuries. The jury also considered the plaintiff’s social media, plus banking and airline records, which documented her extensive global travel after the accidents.
Ultimately, the jury found that the plaintiff did not sustain an injury in either accident. The verdict highlights the role of detailed discovery of a claimant’s medical history and evidence of post-accident activities in defending disputed injury claims.
Congratulations to Jim, Danielle, and Amanda on this defense verdict. Their work reflects the firm’s commitment to examining the facts, testing disputed claims, and protecting our clients’ interests at trial.
