Mark Zausmer Spearheads City Year Detroit’s 2016 Red Jacket Gala

It’s a fact – nearly one-third of Detroit public school students drop out, increasing the likelihood that they will become unemployed or incarcerated, with a devastating effect on our local communities.

City Year Detroit seeks to reverse that trend by helping more than 5,000 students (and the schools in which they learn) succeed with teams of AmeriCorps volunteers who each commit to one year of full-time service that includes tutoring, mentoring, classroom support, and after-school programs.

Zausmer’s managing partner, Mark Zausmer, proudly serves as Chair of the City Year Detroit Board, and this year led the host committee for the Red Jacket Gala, which took place on May 11th at Ford Field. The Gala is a fundraiser that brings together business and community leaders, citizen supporters, and service champions to honor the efforts of the organization’s hard working volunteers.  Over $500,000 was raised at the Gala to benefit City Year Detroit.
