American Heart Association – Go Red for Women

Heart disease kills one in three women each year – one woman every 80 seconds.

Many people wrongly assume cancer is the leading cause of death in women, and often dismiss early warning signs of heart attacks without seeking medical help. Similarly, people are unaware that the signs differ by gender – in men, signs include chest tightness and tingling or pain in the left arm, but for women, shortness of breath, back pain, jaw pain, and nausea are the most common indicators.

The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign highlights the importance of educating women about the red flags, risk factors, and ways to prevent heart disease and strokes through healthier lifestyles.

On January 31st, Zausmer attorneys and staff went “Casual for a Cause” to support the Go Red for Women program and contribute funds for prevention research.
